Il Ponte Vecchio ("the Old Bridge") is a large bridge across the River Arno that is filled with shops. It has been around since 1345. It has always had several shops, though originally they were mostly butcher shops. The Medici family decided they wanted to class the place up a bit, so they banned the selling of meat, and gold merchants moved into their place, and pretty much haven't left since.

We wandered across the bridge while doing some window shopping.
The view of the Arno from the Ponte. All the shops are so tiny, but this is the incredible view they have.
