Where: Amsterdam, Netherlands
When: May 9, 2017

Apparently, Amsterdam has its fair share of famous markets. And since it was springtime, the one we decided to focus on was the floating Flower Market.
A short walk from our hotel, I actually didn't even realize this was the market at first. I was in such sensory overload with all the scenery and canals, I didn't realize that these floating stalls were neither boat nor house. I just took a bunch of photos because they reflected so well in the water.

On our last morning, we took a stroll down the street through the market. Each stall contained tons of flowers, partially on the street, partially on their floating barge, covered by a greenhouse-like ceiling.
Each vendor displayed their goods a little differently, focusing on different things: fresh flowers, bulbs, or seeds.
Obviously, being in the Netherlands, the tulips and their bulbs were the hot ticket item to buy. While I've heard the flowers are certified to get back through customs, I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger, buy some, and have them confiscated at the border. But man, if I lived here, my mind was dancing with images of what my garden would look like.
Some stalls even went so far as to use the ceiling for bouquets of dried flowers. It was beautiful!
It was such a peaceful stroll through this market, observing flowers on a beautiful morning in Amsterdam. It made me wish I was a local and could do this weekly to obtain some fresh cut beauties and an awesome garden.
