Where: San Francisco, CA
When: April 3, 2017
With: Dave and Maier
My experience in Chinatown is sadly quite limited compared to the cultural experience that lies within the streets of this San Francisco neighborhood. The city's spot on the Pacific Ocean makes it the first stop for immigrants coming across from Asia, and as such, this has created one of the largest Chinatown's in the world. In previous trips to San Francisco, I always seemed to pass it by, but never got to go in.
On this recent trip, we had the experience of trying a "mai tai" at a very interesting bar in the heart of Chinatown that Maier insisted we visit. I put "mai tai" in quotes because the combination of liquors that went into this drink appeared deadly (anytime I see 151 as an ingredient, I am afraid). The drink was scarily good, but we had the good sense to cut ourselves off after one.

While this was quite the experience that I'd love to remember, I would like another spin through Chinatown for some of the other cultural aspects. Maybe next time, I'll do so with mai tai in hand, if I can ever find that place again.
