Ste-Chapelle

What: Ste-Chapelle, Paris, France
When: November 5th, 2011
Who: Dave

We went on quite a quest for Ste-Chapelle. It is not the easiest to spot to find - it's located on Bd du Palais, but you have to look for this tiny little sign on the west side of the street. It may seem easy to pass, but trust me, totally worth looking for.

Built in 1248 by Louis IX, it is nicknamed a "Gothic jewel box" as it has the largest expanse of stained glass windows in the world. And as Dave is a big stained glass window fan, this was a must.

We went at the end of the day, so light through the windows was fading (I hear it's incredible on a bright day), but we still loved it all lit up with candles. The show is up on the second floor.

While the upstairs was beautiful, it was also very crowded. The downstairs was really bright and colorful too, even without the stained glass.

From the outside, the Ste-Chappelle is attached to the Palace of Justice. You can see it over there from the outside on the left. Totally wouldn't know how colorful it is on the inside by looking at it from the exterior.
