Where: Boston, Massachusetts
When: October 28, 2015
With: Me!
As I have learned about Boston, it is old. From its buildings to its cemeteries, this city has a history that goes way back. Even places that look like a random collection of grass and trees can have a history in the city of Boston. And the Public Garden, smack in the middle of the city and founded in 1837, is no exception.
I've probably been taken to the park on several occasions (at least, according to my family). I do have vague memories of the famous swan boats on the large lake in the middle of it, but overall, I don't remember too much. So when I was visiting Boston as an adult and had a chance to take a stroll on my own, I made a point to take the long way through the park.
I immediately saw one of the most iconic statues in the park. These five little guys represent the book Make Way For Ducklings and I love them. Now this I remember from childhood.

The other famous statue in the park is that of George Washington (pardon the dark photo!) He has been looking down from his horse on this spot since 1869. He's keeping an eye out for trespassers on all that grass - it is only recently that sitting on it has become permissable, but only in certain sections.
A beautiful park that makes for a great respite in the midst of the city. I hope I have more time to stroll it again.
