First Sunday roast

The Sunday roast is apparently very near and dear in the hearts of the British. It is hard to find a pub that doesn't advertise the popular meal all week long. We had our first one at a pub down the street called the The Apollo. It was about as traditional of a Sunday roast as you can get: roasted beef in ale sauce with mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding (those puffy pastry things), broccoli, carrots, and mashed yams, served with creamed horseradish. We topped this all off with a couple of pints (mine was a cider). Perhaps a new weekly tradition? Probably not, but it was delicious and will likely be something we do at least monthly.
