School Prom

When: June 28, 2012
Where: London, England
With: Work people

Fiscal year end is June 30th, and as the Brits are never ones to turn down an excuse for a party, a large celebration was planned to commemorate the end of the year. The theme? School prom!! As an American, I could not be anything less than completely excited.

It was held in an old public school building on the south side of the river. Upon arriving, you were immediately provided with your "report card" for the evening, allotting you your drinks, food and photos for the evening, in addition to other school-themed activites.

Everyone was encouraged to find "dates" for the evening (I know, kind of weird to be encouraged to ask your coworkers to by your date). Upon hearing this, I scrambled to secure my date (aka work boyfriend aka Jad) in traditional Sadie Hawkins style. After asking him, he responded that he had wanted to ask me but never thought I'd say yes because I was friends with all the cool kids. <3

Mom, aren't you so proud I picked someone who takes great pictures? Sadly, this was the last time I saw him for the evening, as he hung out with the all the bad kids smoking cigarettes behind the school the rest of the night.

Everyone went all out to embrace the theme, with gowns and tuxes all around.

Upstairs in the "gym", the room was fully decorated for the evening. Not sure what this was for, they never had it at my school...

The ceremonies kicked off with our "principal" giving a speech. This was followed by the crowning of our prom king and queen.

Afterwards, the "Glee Club" performed. Annnd like a normal school assembly, we got pretty tired of the performance about 2 songs in. Unlike high school though, we could exit the assembly when we'd had enough to go get drinks.

The rest of the night was spent dancing, eating, drinking and singing.

The Time Warp was the best dance of the night.

Just like a real prom, the evening was so much fun, it flew by in a blur.

No night out is complete without some big face, little face.

More Blue Steel than little face

This guy won "Best Dressed"

We stayed until the school kicked us out, and ended the year if fantastic fashion. Final thoughts: prom is way more fun when you can drink.
